Pharmacists are uniquely positioned to engage in suicide prevention efforts. This session will describe how pharmacists and pharmacy technicians at Red Lake Indian Health Services Hospital in Red Lake were trained last year to use the Patient Health Questionnaires (PHQ) 2 and 9 that screen for depression with patients in their ambulatory care clinics. Pharmacists who provided clinical services to patients at a high risk for suicide were given additional training to help patients seek and access professional behavioral health services.
